The University of San Diego has the only nursing school in Southern California dedicated to graduate education, with more than 2,400 alumni—275 of whom hold the PhD or Research Doctorate, and 65 the Doctor of Nursing Practice. With the equivalent of 675 graduate students and 68 faculty, the University of San Diego is one of the first Master’s Entry Nursing Programs and Doctor of Nursing Practice Programs. The School consistently has placed in the top tier of nursing programs nationally and is ranked in the top 10% of graduate nursing programs by US News and World Report.
The School is one of 14 selected for the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) PhD Nurse Scholars program, as well as the recipients of a second RWJF Master’s Entry Nurse Scholars grant. As part of International Clinical Research Missions, faculty and students travel to select countries to conduct sustainable missions that integrate clinical research with culturally competent and evidence-based health care and services to vulnerable populations in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, India, Cambodia, Vietnam and Africa.

The Hahn School of Nursing at the University of San Diego is a haven for registered nurses that want to build on their education and take further steps in their nursing careers.
For over 40 years now, the nursing school has succeeded in weaving compassion, innovation, and Christian ideals into their programs to build not only highly skilled nurses but also ensure high morality and ethical standards.
Through training, nursing students extensively get involved in clinical settings like the school’s simulation lab that incorporates real-size mannequins and even human actors to create an almost real-life health care environment.
Additionally, students are assigned acute-care roles in hospitals to put their knowledge into real practice.
