Springfield Technical Community College (STCC), a public not-for-profit institution and the Commonwealth’s only technical community college, continues the pioneering legacy of the Springfield Armory with comprehensive and technical education in manufacturing, STEM, healthcare, business, social services, and the liberal arts. STCC’s highly regarded workforce, certificate, degree, and transfer programs are the most affordable in Springfield and provide unequalled opportunity for the vitality of Western Massachusetts. Founded in 1967, the college – a designated Hispanic Serving Institution – seeks to close achievement gaps among students who traditionally face societal barriers. Student Learning Outcomes

When students complete an associate-level degree program at STCC, in addition to having acquired and demonstrated program-related skills and competencies, students will also have the following general education skills and competencies:

• Critical Thinking: Students will be able to develop a disciplined, self-directed, systematic framework for thinking and problem solving appropriate to the situation.
• Written and Oral Communication: Students will be writers, readers, speakers, and listeners who use the English language effectively and appropriately.
• Quantitative Reasoning: Students will be able to develop a mathematical and logical mode of thinking.
• Digital Literacy: Students will develop familiarity with technology that will improve their creativity, productivity, and communication skills while also developing the skills necessary for research and information management.
• Information Literacy: Students will be able to recognize information needs and locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information regardless of format.
